Are there different types of contact lenses?

Yes - There are several different types of contact lens available on the market.
  1. Rigid - Gas Permeable lenses which are made from a hard material and are worn for 1 - 2 years.
  2. Soft - Conventional/Permanent lenses which are made from material that is soft, flexible and contains water. One pair of these lenses are worn for 1 - 2 years.
  3. Disposable - Contact lenses are also made from a soft, flexible material. But these lenses are designed to be replaced frequently to prevent build up and provide maximum comfort. These lenses can be disposed of after one day, 2 weeks or even month of wear.
Who can wear contact lenses?

Most people who use prescription glasses for vision correction are able to wear contact lenses. Whether you need glasses for reading or for seeing in the distance, contact lenses are certainly an alternative option. You'll just need to have an eye examination to determine which type of lens is best suited to your eyes.

Are contact lenses comfortable to wear?

Yes, most certainly. After an initial adaptation period, you won't feel the lenses at all. They are perfect for playing sports or exercising, for that special occasion or for those times when you just feel like a change.

Are contact lenses difficult to handle or insert?

Contact lens insertion can sometimes be a challenge, especially if you are a first time wearer. But after much practice, insertion becomes easier, and they are simple to clean and maintain.

Are contact lenses available in colours?

Contact lenses come in a variety of colours - blue, green, hazel, violet, aqua and grey, just to name a few. Coloured contact lenses can change even the darkest eyes completely or just enhance or brighten your own natural eye colour. For a totally different look, there are even contact lenses with crazy and zany patterns on them, like cats' eyes.

Can I change my eye colour if I don't need vision correction?

Certainly. Many people who don't need to wear glasses can still change or enhance their eye colour by wearing coloured contact lenses. You will still need an eye examination to determine which lens is best suited to your eyes.

How much are contact lenses?

Contact lenses vary in price depending on the type. Disposables start from $90.00 for 3 months supply. Soft conventional lenses from $200.00 for a pair. Rigid Gas Permeable lenses from $300.00 for a pair.

Can I sleep in contact lenses?

Yes, there are certain types of contact lenses which allow you to wear them in overnight. These lenses are made of a unique material which allows high levels of oxygen to reach the surface of the eye, letting your eyes breathe. This is essential for good eye health.
